The Los Angeles Lakers have been one of the busiest teams in the entire team this offseason. The team went quick to work, pulling off the biggest trade of the offseason with the Washington Wizards to land Russell Westbrook.

The front office then had to go to work to fill out the rest of the roster. With limited financial options, the Lakers were tasked with building out a rotation that could contend for a title. Rob Pelinka did just that.

While the team is old, the team is also very deep. There are 13 legitimate rotation players on this team and there is not a wasted spot. No spot for a developmental player who won’t have an impact or an old veteran who is just a locker room presence.

Despite all the activity, the Lakers still have an open spot on the roster. The team traded Marc Gasol and a second-round pick away just to get Gasol off of the roster without having to pay the tax implications of buying him out and then signing someone new.

With this 14th roster spot the Los Angeles Lakers should sign a wing.

The Lakers could go to 15 players on the roster but it is likely that they will save that final roster spot for a potential in-season move. That gives the team one move to make and it should be a player that adds wing depth.

Training camp is right around the corner and the Lakers still have more spots to fill and it very well could be a “sign and compete” situation in LA. Regardless, there are still three intriguing wings that the team can bring in.
