The Los Angeles Lakers are just days away from kickstarting the 2020-21 season and some Laker fans might already be looking to make some money on the team by cashing in on some futures bets.

We all know the typical futures bets; Lakers to win the NBA Championship, to win the Western Conference, Lakers win total over/under, or even sprinkling some cash on LeBron James, Anthony Davis, or Russell Westbrook to win an award.

Those futures are all fine and dandy, but thanks to WynnBET, we can have some fun with futures bets this season. WynnBET has several futures bets that put current players up against historical players.

Here are three fun Los Angeles Lakers futures bet and which side we are taking:

1. More points per game: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s 1975-76 (27.7) or Anthony Davis’ 2021-22

The first futures bet that you can cash in on involves Anthony Davis and another all-time great Laker big, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Kareem is not only one of the greatest Lakers of all time but you can make the case that he is the best player in basketball history.

But that is a debate for another article.

Kareem enters this futures bet as the favorite with -145 odds to win. Davis has been given +125 odds as a narrow underdog.

In theory, Anthony Davis should be entering the athletic prime of his career and this is a number that we have seen him reach before, twice, in fact. In 2016-17 he averaged 28 points per game and the following season he averaged 28.1 points per game.

While Davis should be the top scorer on the Lakers this season, it is hard to see him getting to the 27.7 number while sharing the rock with LeBron James and Russell Westbrook. James will take a step back and Westbrook might not score as much but those two are still going to average around 45 points per game.

Can Davis essentially get to 28 points per game while those two are scoring 45? I do not think so. I think he ends up right under that number. I am taking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (-145) to win this futures bet.
