2. Harry Giles

Harry Giles signed with the Los Angeles Clippers and was waived in favor of Isaiah Hartenstein. The explosive big man is now on the market and he would be a decent player to bring in to give the team frontcourt depth while Trevor Ariza recovers.

The Lakers are really thin at the power forward position and while Giles is more of a center he is someone you can play alongside Anthony Davis at the five without sacrificing too much size. The only backup power forward the Lakers have right now is Carmelo Anthony, who is not a true power forward.

Giles could be a candidate for a two-way contract as well. He has less than four years of NBA experience, so he qualifies, and he is someone who has raw potential that has not been tapped into yet.

Giles was the top recruit in a high school class that included the likes of Jayson Tatum, Donovan Mitchell and Lonzo Ball. It has not quite worked out but the potential is still there and he is still only 23 years old.

The Lakers have been exceptional at finding hidden gems and developing players at the G League level. Giles has a bigger name than the typical hidden gem that the Lakers find but he is someone who can provide depth in the short-term while providing a long-term developmental option.
