Lakers vs. Warriors prediction: 3 prop bets that are guaranteed to profit
By Jason Reed
3. Russell Westbrook under 9.5 assists (-115)
Not only does Russell Westbrook have the highest rebounding line for the first game of the season but he also has the highest assists line as well. His scoring line is only set at 19.5 points while his assists line is sitting at 9.5 assists.
Personally, I think it is much more likely that Westbrook goes over the 19.5 points line than he does the 9.5 assists line. I am not totally confident in Westbrook’s scoring in this first game, though, and I would rather go with the assists number.
If you are feeling really bold you could hammer both the over on his points and the under on his assists. Something along the lines of 22 points and seven assists feels right for Westbrook’s first game in the purple and gold.
Westbrook is going to be sharing the facilitating duties with LeBron James and while he was brought in to help take some of the load off of LeBron this is the first game of the season. This has all the makings of LeBron operating the offense and taking more threes, allowing Westbrook and Davis to get to the rim and make plays.
This will result in higher rebounding and point totals for Westbrook and Davis, and with that in mind, 10 assists almost feels unreachable for Westbrook in this game.
Westbrook will get his fair share of triple-doubles on the Los Angeles Lakers but this game will not be one of them as he is going to finish with single-digit assists. The best proof for this prediction is his assists numbers with the Houston Rockets, who featured another prolific passer in James Harden.
Westbrook averaged just 7.0 assists per game in his lone season with the Rockets and the numbers should be similar in LA.
