The Los Angeles Lakers host the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday night as the laundry list of NBA players being put on the COVID-19 list continues to rise.

The Lakers are dealing with several players on the COVID-19 list as well as head coach Frank Vogel, who did not coach the team’s previous game against the Chicago Bulls. Meanwhile, the Phoenix Suns have actually avoided the problems that have been sweeping across the league.

This is not just a rematch from last year’s playoffs but it is a test for the Lakers. The Suns are the top team in the Western Conference and if the Lakers are true contenders then they should be able to hang around with the Suns. Granted, the Lakers are shorthanded, but fans still can’t feel great if this turns into a blowout.

Vegas doesn’t think this game is going to be particularly close.

Los Angeles Lakers vs Suns betting odds, spread, over/under:

The Los Angeles Lakers host the Suns as seven-point underdogs in this contest. This makes the Lakers a +240 moneyline favorite while the Suns are a -280 moneyline favorite. The over/under for this game has been set at 223.5 points.

These teams have played once this season, playing in the second game of the year. The Lakers lost by 10 in Phoenix in that contest.

Los Angeles Lakers vs Suns prediction:

While this is a Lakers website and we want to be as optimistic about the Lakers as much as possible, it is only fair to our readers to be completely objective and not subjective about the Lakers. With that being said, it is clear that the play tonight is the Suns -7.

It would be great to see the Lakers win this game but the Suns are just on a completely different level than the Lakers are right now. The Suns’ depth is significantly better because of the players on the reserve list for the Lakers and Phoenix has all the tools to beat the Lakers.

MUST-READ: Why an Anthony Davis trade will never happen

Just look at the playoff series last year. The Suns thoroughly outplayed the Lakers once Anthony Davis got hurt and I do not see this being much different. The Lakers are also a much worse defensive team now than they were last season, so the prospects of slowing down Devin Booker seems impossible.

Mikal Bridges has blossomed into a really good defensive player and will do his part to keep LeBron James from having a massive game, which will make it nearly impossible for the Lakers to win.

I am taking Suns -7 and under 223.5 with a final score prediction of Suns 113, Lakers 100.
