Proposed Lakers Anthony Davis trade to Celtics is absolutely ridiculous
By Jason Reed
The Los Angeles Lakers rumors are growing the closer we get to the deadline and the speculation of what the team might do is growing as well. While most fans are concerned with a Russell Westbrook or Talen Horton-Tucker trade, some are focusing on ludicrous trade ideas.
Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley put together four NBA trades to “legitimately” shock fans. In this article, Buckley put together a trade between the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics that would see Anthony Davis get traded to Boston and Jaylen Brown traded to Los Angeles.
The full trade is the following:
This wasn’t something we were going to cover here at Lake Show Life but this trade has become a conversation amongst fans on social media. Heck, our FanSided sister site, Hardwood Houdini, covered this proposed trade and started a big conversation on their side of things.
Most fans probably recognize that this is an absurd proposed trade between the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers. Buckley himself writes that this trade is not likely “at all”. However, he does write that if both teams feel stuck then this could be a way to unstick themselves.
Yeah, maybe for the Celtics, but the Lakers would be absolutely foolish to make a trade like this.
The Los Angeles Lakers would quickly hang up the phone if the Celtics proposed this Anthony Davis trade.
Jaylen Brown is a solid young player that on paper, could fit what the Los Angeles Lakers are trying to do. He is a two-way wing that would add perimeter scoring and perimeter defense to the Lakers. The team would also be getting a sixth-man, defensive-minded point guard in Marcus Smart to put on the bench.
But in return, they would be trading a player in Anthony Davis that just had one of the best postseasons in NBA history for the Lakers AND a first-round pick with weak protections. Sure, Anthony Davis may have struggled this season and there are concerns about his health, but you don’t trade a top-10 player AND a first-round pick for a top-30 player and a role player.
It is ludicrous and it would never happen. Anthony Davis signed with Klutch Sports to force his way to LA to play with LeBron James. Would the Lakers really trade him for a wing that does not even have close to the same ceiling as AD?
This is a nothing-burger. Anthony Davis is not being traded anytime soon, especially in a package like this.
