The bad from the Los Angeles Lakers’ loss:
The Los Angeles Lakers have to be one of the worst pick-and-roll defensive teams in the NBA!
This one play alone sums up the last quarter and why the Los Angeles Lakers lost this game!
In another episode of Lake Show Life’s game show, “Who in the world is that guy?” This week’s guest host is Onyeka Okongwu. The Hawks put starting center Clint Capela on the bench and this dude wore the Lakers out finishing with five dunks in crunch time off of the pick and roll.
This is nothing new because the Lake Show was just as bad last season defending the pick and roll. It’s like Hawks Head Coach, Nate McMillan knew Frank Vogel would never leave the small-ball lineup and ran the same play over and over and over…
Well, Dwight Howard played some in this game right? He could have helped some with rim protection, but oh well.
The Lakers are getting beaten on the rebounding boards on a regular basis!
It’s like the Lakers get lazy with Anthony Davis in the lineup thinking he will be the cure-all on the defensive boards. But with the small-ball lineup, opposing teams are going to bring him away from the rim with perimeter big men!
The Lakers were outrebounded 45-37 with Malik Monk leading the team with 10 rebounds. Russell Westbrook was second on the team with 7 rebounds. Get the connection here on what’s wrong?
For the fans counting at home, Anthony Davis had only 5 rebounds. This is not it for playoff runs folks.
The Los Angeles Lakers have no set offensive scheme outside of “Let LeBron James run the offense!”
This reason alone is why the Los Angeles Lakers is not a championship contender. When the Hawks were rolling they ran their offense!
The Lakers just played isolation basketball while Malik Monk, Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis took turns. Most of those plays ended up with jumpers out to 27 feet.
This is on the coaching staff folks. If the Lakers had a go-to play other than dribbling the ball for 20 seconds or give the ball to Anthony Davis and move out the way…
Maybe the Los Angeles Lakers win.
