The Los Angeles Lakers were back on the hardwood after halting a three-game losing streak to the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night to play the Los Angeles Clippers. The storyline coming into this game was All-Star related as LeBron James will be the only Laker on the roster to participate in the big game.

Lake Show Life has not been kind to Frank Vogel. That is an understatement, but was anyone that has watched Los Angeles Lakers basketball this season surprised that Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook were not selected?

According to NBA.com writer Mark Medina…Frank Vogel was!

"Lakers coach Frank Vogel on Anthony Davis & Russell Westbrook not making the All-Star team: “It’s a little surprising. I think obviously we feel like those guys should be on there.” Vogel then added the exclusions are “probably more indicative of our win-loss record.”"

Let’s break down this Vogel-ism comment shall we?

  • Anthony Davis wasn’t that good before he got injured and then he missed 17 games!
  • Russell Westbrook…Seriously dude?

The one good thing about this game was it was on TNT. After covering one of the worst NBA games of the last ten seasons the night before, sometimes a little bit of inspiration is needed by way of humor with Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal.

The readers of Lake Show Life (Especially McKinley Webb!) really can’t stand Charles Barkley’s takes on the Los Angeles Lakers. It would be interesting to see what he thought of a 17 point comeback that started with (checking notes) the insertion of Trevor Ariza!

Then…ALL OF THIS!

The Los Angeles Lakers lost a wild one 111-110. If there are any moral victories, this is it. The Lake Show played much better than they did 24 hours prior and the coaching staff has plenty of things that they can take from this game to build on.
