The story from the Los Angeles Lakers’ loss:
If Russell Westbrook wants to make a point to the Los Angeles Lakers fanbase about what he can do…the time is now!
Russell Westbrook spearheaded a serious comeback with a huge 3 point shot in the third quarter that started a huge 12-0 run over the third and fourth quarters. It was like he got energized and got aggressive.
He scored 17 points and added 6 rebounds and 4 assists, but it’s no longer about stats.
Westbrook is not going to be traded and Lakers nation will complain about it quite loudly. Russ has to block out the noise on February 11th and get back to playing basketball with pace and purpose. Lake Show Life is already on record saying that the team needs Russ more than Russ needs the Lakers. After Carmelo’s injury, you can chalk yet another observation by this website that has come to pass.
The Los Angeles Lakers allowed three Clippers to beat them in this game.
Well, numbers don’t lie!
- Marcus Morris: 29 points (11-16 shooting!), six 3 point shots which includes a huge one late!
- Reggie Jackson: 25 points (10-20 shooting!) with the game winner after basically being the only offense in the last two minutes besides Morris’ aforementioned 3 point shot! To make things worse, he was scoreless until late in the first half!
- Serge Ibaka: 20 points (9-16 shooting!) and 9 rebounds.
The Los Angeles Lakers had better find a way to beat the New York Knicks on Saturday night or this season will end without a post season berth. The World Champion, Milwaukee Bucks are next and the schedule is getting harder!
