Los Angeles Lakers: Predicting every game after the All-Star Break
By Jason Reed
Los Angeles Lakers games 59-64:
Feb 25 vs Los Angeles Clippers: Win
The Los Angeles Clippers have not been all that great this season and are right there in the play-in range with the Los Angeles Lakers. They obviously have no Kawhi Leonard nor Paul George so they should not be too much of a task.
LeBron James comes out of the break looking to prove a point after all of the reported tension between him and the team and leads the Lakers to a close victory.
Feb 27 vs New Orleans Pelicans: Win
Yes, I am predicting the Lakers to win two games in a row. No, I am not being overly optimistic like I was before the season. Even though CJ McCollum is playing well and the team has played better after a horrendous start, the Pelicans have the massive distraction of Zion Williamson and are a worse team than the Lakers.
New Orleans is 10-19 on the road. The Lakers need to start buckling down and winning games like this.
Mar 1 vs Dallas Mavericks: Loss
Here is the L. Luka Doncic always seems to play well against the Lakers as he is looking to prove something against the face of the league in LeBron. The Mavericks have played quite well after a slow start to the season and have big wins over teams such as the 76ers and Heat in recent games.
Mar 3 at Los Angeles Clippers: Loss
Yes, everything I said about the Clippers in the previous game is still true, but I cannot bank on the Lakers beating the Clippers twice. They split these two games either way, I chose the Lakers to win the first game because of LeBron being in prove-it mode.
Mar 5 vs Golden State Warriors: Loss
The Warriors are one of the two best teams in the Western Conference and even with Stephen Curry struggling the team has been rolling. The All-Star Game really could be a launching-off point for Curry to get back into form and it is hard to see the Lakers winning this game.
Mar 7 at San Antonio Spurs: Win
While the Spurs have given the Lakers problems in the past they got worse at the deadline as they sold off some of the valuable pieces they did have. As good as Dejounte Murray is, the Lakers need to win this road game following a three-game losing streak.
