Jeanie Buss is one of the most famous owners in the NBA simply because she is the owner of the Los Angeles Lakers. The Buss Family has done tremendous things for the Lakers and the NBA and Buss is an extremely positive role model for her position as a female in a male-dominated field.
Being the owner of the Los Angeles Lakers brings an extra spotlight, especially when the team is not performing. Laker fans have high expectations and with the team struggling this season, the spotlight has shined extremely bright on Buss this season.
This spotlight has extended far beyond the results on the basketball court, though. There has been some digging on Buss’s Twitter account and as a result, some pretty cringe-worthy tweets from the Lakers owners have emerged.
Buss really seemed to like Johnny Flynn, who is no longer in the NBA. It had nothing to do with his skill set, though, and more so his appearance.
Well, at least the Minnesota Timberwolves can feel better about the fact that Jeanie Buss also would have taken Johnny Flynn over Stephen Curry — a decision that still haunts the franchise to this day.
Flynn was not Buss’s favorite player on the Timberwolves, though. Kevin Love caught Buss’s, almost making her forget about Johnny Flynn.
I thought that LeBron James was the most upset that Kevin Love didn’t end up getting bought out this year by the Cleveland Cavaliers but Buss may have him beat. You know the Lakers would have been leading the charge for Love if he did get bought out.
Buss also was not shy in commenting on two of the biggest stars in the sport, Chris Paul and Kevin Love. Buss took the time to call a cutie and commented on Kevin Durant’s… arms?
We respect Jeanie Buss’s old tweets, even with her being the current Lakers owner.
All of these tweets were sent before Jeanie took over for her father, Jerry Buss, who passed away in 2013. Some may argue that Buss should delete these tweets now that she is the owner of the Lakers, but quite frankly, there really is no reason to.
There is nothing inherently bad about these tweets and we cannot blame Buss for putting it out there and sharing her opinion. Kevin Love and co. are all handsome guys after all and she was just letting her opinion be known. She didn’t say anything offensive and was just sharing her two cents, you know, like every Laker fan does when they angrily tweet her or the team.
Are they cringe-worthy and funny to look back on? Absolutey. Are they something that Buss should be ashamed of? Absolutely not.
