The Los Angeles Lakers went out on the road for a mini-Texas road trip starting with the San Antonio Spurs. They were looking to build on their shocking win over NBA Finals contenders, the Golden State Warriors. Lakers Nation was riding high the last couple of days as he turned back the hands of time or the overused cliché…Defy Father Time even though it’s undefeated”.
Well, Father Time must have been watching sports on cable the last couple of days because LeBron James was not available for this game due to “significant knee soreness”.
Lake Show Life tries our best to provide entertaining Lakers coverage even though sometimes the team won’t.
Does any LeBron stans want to see any LeBron James highlights?
Well, that’s all the Lakers fans will get because the Los Angeles Lakers held him out of this game and is already being considered to be held out of Wednesday’s matchup against the Houston Rockets.
Let’s compare Frank Vogel’s statement via ESPN to Lake Show Life’s writer Ronald Agers just after the Clippers loss…
Frank Vogel:
"“With the heavy load that he’s carrying for us this year, we know that it’s always a possibility,” Vogel said of James sitting out. “I think that’s why we continue to list him as questionable to see how it’s responding over the 48 hours between games. And this is just one of those days where it was significant enough to hold him out.”"
Ronald Agers (After the Clippers game):
"Did you see LeBron’s press conference? Cool and collected. Wave cap and everything. All he was missing was house shoes and a robe. It’s coming to me in a vision…he’s going to have…a groin strain or knee soreness. Aka shutdown. Leadership like 2019-20 when he shut down 15 games before the season ended."
These predictions are getting better and better, aren’t they?
The Lakers lose to the San Antonio Spurs 117-110. The Lake Show continues to slide with the New Orleans Pelicans right behind them. They were a Nikola Jokic 46 point performance from possibly being in the 10th and final play-in spot.
The staff of Lake Show Life would like to extend congratulations to Gregg Popovich for claiming the top spot for all-time coaching wins passing Don Nelson.
The good from the Los Angeles Lakers’ loss:
Enjoy Malik Monk for the next 19 games because this guy will be leaving for millions!
This dude Malik Monk will be a star in this league if he continues to work on his body and improve his defense. His offense is only going to get better and he is already one of the most improved scorers in the league when Frank Vogel isn’t messing with his minutes.
Sure he scored 17 points in this game but it was his playmaking that made it a joy to watch. He played so confidently and like you saw in the video, the game is starting to slow down for him for quicker anticipation. Plus his chemistry with Austin Reaves is getting stronger by the game as well.
Foul trouble threw off his rhythm in the second half, but the Lakers’ mission statement should change a little bit because he can score as a first option with Carmelo Anthony and makes plays like everyone wants Russell Westbrook to do. More on him later.
Austin Reaves is cementing his status on this team next year!
There will definitely be some changes in the offseason with expired contracts and potential trades, but this guy is going nowhere. His status on this team is right next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis (Yes, you read this right!).
Does Reaves get enough time on the floor? No. But that will change next year when Frank Vogel is fired. The Los Angeles Lakers desperately need a glue guy that competes every night without looking for the spotlight. Watching Reaves sit on the bench while D.J. Augustin, Avery Bradley struggle in the second half is why the rotations are killing the Lakers.
Reaves finished with 13 points on 6-8 shooting but he spent an eternity on the bench. When he returned with 6 minutes left, it was too late.
