The Los Angeles Lakers officially stink as an NBA team Lakers Nation. Sorry folks, but the NBA, the Lakers, and the media are borderline sending smoke signals trying to sell a subpar product that might start the annual question of “Can this NBA team beat the NCAA champions?” and point it to this franchise.
All of the other media outlets keep asking the question…”Where’s rock bottom for the Los Angeles Lakers?” Well, let’s take this to data (Shout out to David Fizdale who could have saved this team for borrowing this quote!) and check the evidence.
- October 27, 2021: An 8-point loss, 123-115, to the Oklahoma City Thunder in which the Lakers led 41-19 after the first quarter and by as many as 26. (A week later, the Lakers would lose again to the Thunder, blowing a 19-point first-half lead.)
- January 15, 2022: A 37-point complete evisceration, 133-96, handed to them by the Denver Nuggets. Remember Frank Vogel was supposed to be fired and he was being monitored from game to game? How did that work out other than being exposed as a weak front office?
- February 27, 2022: A 28-point smackdown, 123-95, laid on by the New Orleans Pelicans at the Crypto.com Arena as the boos rained down and Lakers players could be spotted getting into it with fans on video folks.
- March 3, 2022: A 22-point loss, 132-111, to the Los Angeles Clippers, who swept the season series against the Lakers and have won seven straight in “The Battle of L.A.” See this was the game where Reggie Jackson looked like an All-Star dropping 40 then dancing on the sidelines.
- March 9, 2022: Just last week, a 139-130 overtime loss to the worst record in the league Houston Rockets. This was the game when LeBron James tightened up his breathing and passed up a layup at the end of the regulation.
- Sunday night: The Phoenix Suns dropped 140 points and ethered Anthony Davis about his weak quote saying the Lakers would have won if he hadn’t got hurt.
Well, that team from “Inglewood that ain’t no good” played the Toronto Raptors on Monday about 24 hours after embarrassing every legend that put on the purple and gold. Even players like Robert Sacre, Nick Young, Carlos Huerta, Jeremy Lin, Carlos Boozer, Chris Mihm and Jordan Hill had to scratch their heads and say really?
- The Toronto Raptors started on a 26-2 run. No this is not a typo, but if this was a fragment it would describe how the Lakers were playing at this point.
- The score at the end of the first quarter was…wait for it…33-12.
- We could go on but why?
The Lakers came back to make it close but lost 114-103 in a game that was not close. Toronto went into a coma in the final quarter and that is really why the score looks better than the Lakers really performed.
The good from the Los Angeles Lakers’ loss:
(Look this is getting hard Lakers fans! Help this writer out by tweeting to @sportworldorder!)
The Los Angeles Lakers color broadcasting team consisting of Bill MacDonald and Stu Lantz.
These guys are probably the most professional team in the NBA by a country mile. See it’s easy for a writer on a Lakers website to blast this team when it stinks, but these guys have to stay upbeat no matter how badly this team plays and sell to the fans a reason to watch 48 minutes of horrible basketball. Understand these guys stayed positive when the Lake Show was down 26-2. In the third quarter with the deficit at 70-48, they continued to do their jobs. Wow!
The Los Angeles Lakers studio crew with their analysis.
This is the analysis of the studio crew after the Lakers got blown out 140-111 the night before to the Phoenix Suns.
There’s no analysis for quitting but look at the professionalism of how they do their jobs. Nothing changes. No adjustments and they have to fill 30 minutes with basketball besides reminding everyone of LeBron’s age. This is a very talented bunch here folks, especially James Worthy, who is holding in his disappointment knowing what basketball means and knowing this team is not trying.
Oh, the game ended…
Nuff said.
