Every player to record a triple-double in Los Angeles Lakers history
By Jason Reed
The triple-double has become a somewhat important thing in today’s NBA. Widely because of Russell Westbrook and his triple-double MVP season, there is a large contingent of NBA fans who don’t judge players on their ability to win and make others better but their ability to get double-digits in three different stats in the box score.
It is what made Westbrook one of the most overrated players in the NBA and fans of the Los Angeles Lakers who may have believed in him are now realizing that. That is not to say that Westbrook was a bad player in his prime (he is not in his prime anymore), but he certainly was not the best player in the league nor was he top-five, for that matter.
Westbrook owns the record for the most triple-doubles in NBA history and that is something that he and his supporters can point out anytime someone brings up his lack of overall success in the NBA. Laker fans don’t care about all of the triple-doubles that he racked up in Oklahoma City, though.
Fans care about the players who racked up the triple-doubles on the Los Angeles Lakers… and won while doing so.
Believe it or not, in the long, prestigious history of the Los Angeles Lakers there have only been 24 players to record at least one triple-double while wearing the purple and gold. In this article, we will break down those 24 players into separate categories to give you an answer to some future bar trivia question that asks about Lakers triple-doubles.
