LeBron James wishes he can take back this monster dunk over Kevin Love

LeBron James led the Los Angeles Lakers to a win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday to finish the team’s four-game road trip with a 2-2 record with both wins coming against Eastern Conference playoff teams.

Things have been so bleak for the Lakers this season and the only hope that fans can have is that wins like this can kickstart some kind of improbable run. Even if it doesn’t, at least Laker fans can watch LeBron James play basketball, as he has been sensational. LeBron is averaging 32.3 points, 9.0 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game after the All-Star Break.

LeBron dropped 38 against the Cavaliers on Monday to beat them by 11 and two of those 38 points stood out more than the rest. In the second quarter of Monday’s game, LeBron drove to the rim and put his former teammate, Kevin Love, on a poster.

This is one of the most insane dunks of LeBron’s career and that is saying something as he has had some pretty memorable dunks in his day. To come home to Cleveland and do that to a former teammate that he won a championship… man, that is straight-up disrespectful.

Kevin Love’s only response to getting posterized was to go over and put LeBron in a headlock WWE-style. While LeBron may have gotten one over on Love, Love did get the best of the King with his headlock.

LeBron James says he wishes he can take this monster dunk over Kevin Love back.

Love tweeted after that game that he was not (expletive) with LeBron for at least 48 hours after that dunk, to which LeBron replied with a GIF to apologize.

LeBron didn’t just apologize on Twitter, though. It is what he told reporters after the game that is the funniest part of the story. Sometimes guys will take pride in dunking over an old friend and teammate. Not LeBron, he wishes he could have those two points back (h/t ESPN).

"“He’s my guy. That’s my brother. And I hope I’m still invited to [Love’s] wedding. That’s not even in my all-time dunks so I’ll take it out. I didn’t mean it. K-Love, I love you and I take it back. I wish I could take those two points back and we still win the game by nine.”"

If LeBron is still invited to his former teammates’ wedding then instead of signing the sign-in book with his name he can drop a quick polaroid picture of this dunk instead to rub salt in Love’s wound one more time.

At the end of the day, it is good to see LeBron James having fun playing the game of basketball, even if the Lakers continue to struggle in the season. While the chances of the team winning the title are extremely slim already, they are completely zero if LeBron is not engaged and wanting to play.

Keep dunking over former teammates, LeBron. The Lakers need all the points they can get.
