2. Anthony Davis
Look, injuries may not technically be the fault of the player and some may not include Anthony Davis on this list because of it but at the end of the day, the fact that Davis once again played less than half of the season is disappointing.
There is now a real conversation to be had about Davis’s durability in the NBA and if the Lakers should be second-guessing whether or not he should be the face of the franchise after LeBron. This is now two years in a row that Davis has dealt with multiple injuries and it is not going to get better with age.
It also is interesting that the one year where he made it to the playoffs and put together a run is the one year where there was a five-month break in the middle of the season before the NBA bubble resumed action.
When he is at his best Davis is one of the seven most talented players in the entire NBA. He just isn’t durable and it is not all that shocking considering his size and play style.
Even when Davis was playing he was not playing all that well. He could not keep the team afloat while LeBron James was hurt and while his presence was missed while he was hurt, he didn’t really do anything in that time to prove that he could be a true no. 1 on a team.
The Lakers are committed to Anthony Davis so it would be really shocking to see the team trade him. Next year is a big year for Davis and the Lakers, though, as it could determine both the team and Davis’s future.
