The Los Angeles Lakers head into the offseason with a long list of to-dos if the team is going to become a title contender once more. The no. 1 thing that the Lakers are going to look to accomplish this summer is getting Russell Westbrook out of Los Angeles, as hard as that might be.

The most realistic scenario is that Westbrook is still on the books in some capacity at the start of the 2021-22 season. With that unfortunate reality in mind, it is important to recognize that the Lakers’ hands are going to be tied in what they can do this summer.

Just like last summer, Rob Pelinka and the front office is going to be tasked with building out a rotation that primarily consists of players on minimum contracts. Sometimes you can find quality in these signings, but as we saw this last season, you can also end up with poor depth as well.

Last offseason Rob Pelinka seemingly made it a point to target players who previously played on the Los Angeles Lakers. While it did not work great, Pelinka can take the same approach this offseason as well.

There are four former Los Angeles Lakers that the team can re-sign this offseason.

The Lakers are not going to be able to sign anyone that is going to get an actual contract, like Montrezl Harrell. Los Angeles is also going to want to stay away from certain former Lakers, such as Rajon Rondo.

With those parameters in place, there are still four former Lakers that can be re-signed and could actually be considered by the purple and gold.
