The Los Angeles Lakers are coming off of arguably the most disappointing season in franchise history and the worst season record-wise that LeBron James ever had. There are a lot of problems on this team that need to be fixed if they want any shot of contending for an NBA Championship next season.

One of the biggest storylines around the team has nothing to do with next year’s season. LeBron James has one more year under contract and there is speculation that he will not sign an extension. While LeBron has expressed his desire to stay in LA, it wouldn’t be the first time he changes his mind. He absolutely could leave the Lakers after the 2022-23 season.

And if King James does leave sunny Los Angeles it seems more and more likely that he might head north up the I-5 to sign with the Golden State Warriors; that is, if LeBron gets what he wants.

LeBron James continues his long-distance relationship with the Golden State Warriors.

In a preview trailer for an upcoming episode of ‘The Shop’, LeBron chose the Golden State Warriors as the one remaining playoff team that he would join. We do not know when this episode was filmed, however, so there is a chance that he was only deciding between the Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics.

This is not the first time that LeBron James has teased some sort of move up to the Bay Area. On a previous episode of ‘The Shop’ earlier this offseason, LeBron named Stephen Curry as the one player in the NBA that he wants to play with.

The logistics of getting LeBron James in town would be complicated, especially with the Warriors so far over the cap. But considering LeBron just became the first active NBA player to ever become a billionaire, it is not absurd to think he would take a pay cut to play elsewhere if he really wanted to.

San Francisco is not that far from Los Angeles. LeBron could theoretically remain in LA and take his private jet up to the Bay Area for games and practices. Heck, it probably wouldn’t take as long as Philip Rivers driving up to LA from San Diego after the LA Chargers moved in 2017.

dark. Next. Westbrook and the 10 worst trades in franchise history

This should be concerning for Lakers fans. LeBron is very calculated in what he says to the media and when he says it. The fact that he has shown love to the Warriors not once, but twice, could potentially be foreshadowing a future move.
