Jason Terry is one of the more unique journeymen in NBA history. Coming out of Arizona, the man known as “The Jet” played 19 years through a variety of roles.

After spending the first half of his career starting for the Atlanta Hawks and Dallas Mavericks, it was during the Mavs push for championship status that he transitioned to the bench role and collected the Sixth Man of the Year Award in 2009. Soon after Terry and the Mavericks defeated the LeBron James-led Miami Heat for the NBA title in 2011.

After leaving Dallas in 2012, he went on to play for the Boston Celtics, Brooklyn Nets, Houston Rockets and the Milwaukee Bucks before retiring in 2018. He is now currently seventh in NBA history in 3 point shots made with 2,282. Since then, he has been very busy in his retirement.

  • In 2019, he was named the Asst. general manager of the Texas Legends, the G-League affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks.
  • In 2020, he started his coaching career going back to his alma mater as an assistant coach of the Arizona Wildcats.
  • The next year, he returned to the G-League as the head coach of the Denver Nuggets affiliate, the Grand Rapids Gold (He coached the Lakers ‘ 10 day signee Isaiah Thomas earlier this season).
  • He works as a NBA analyst with NBATV and spent some time playing in the BIG3 basketball league run by Ice Cube.

Jason’s 19 years in the NBA allowed him to accumulate strong relationships and the respect of numerous NBA coaches including Tyronn Lue (Los Angeles Clippers), Jason Kidd (Mavericks) among many others. Jason made himself available for possible NBA coaching vacancies over the summer. Last weekend, he had an interview with the Utah Jazz for the head coach opening recently vacated by Quin Snyder.

The Athletic’s Shams Charania:

"The Utah Jazz have received permission to interview NBA G League Grand Rapids Gold coach Jason Terry for the franchise’s head coaching job, sources tell The Athletic and Stadium. Terry is also under consideration for assistant positions with other NBA teams."

Not only that, Jason Terry has been named the Head of Athletic Performance for a company named Flexit, where he brings his athletic experiences to the professional athlete and the common person together.

While covering the NBA Finals on various media platforms, Jason Terry found time to talk to Lake Show Life on a variety of topics.
