The question of the season is how much Russell Westbrook has in the tank. What’s your take?

Lake Show Life’s take:

Not to beat a dead horse here, but the reason Darvin Ham was hired as the Los Angeles Lakers head coach was because he impressed the front office with a plan to implement Russell Westbrook with an offensive scheme that will enhance the efforts of the three highly paid superstars.

Russell Westbrook’s presence at the press conference is everything. Why? Whatever Ham told him in private conversations is much more believable than anything Frank Vogel tried to get across. If you are a Lakers fan, these points are going to be a way of life this season.

  • Russell Westbrook opting into his contract means he gets $47 million this season. In other words, he is not going anywhere. This Lake Show Life writer knew that at the last trade deadline.
  • No team is going to gut their squad to obtain Russ at this salary without giving back bad contracts AND the obtaining the Lakers first round picks. Oh by the way, all for one year of service and upcoming contract negotiations? Good luck.
  • Like Jason Terry stated, he did not play as bad as the media and the fans made it out to be. Who led the team in scoring? Russ. Who led the team in rebounding? Russ. How about assists? Russ. Why is this? He played enough games to qualify. LeBron and AD did not.
  • Will he be a better defender this year? Yes because if he trusts Darvin Ham to hold everyone accountable, he will allow criticism. When was LeBron criticized outside of this website for his defense? We’ll wait.

This writer has stated for months that the Lakers need Westbrook more than the other way around. Darvin Ham is a fan of his game and will push him to get back to the MVP level before he donned the purple and gold.

The difference? This coach has a comprehensive plan to make this happen…the last one did not.

Before Lake Show Life asked about Jason’s newest business venture, we lightened the mood and asked him how he felt about being a permanent chapter in LeBron James’ legacy. Read on because it will be fun.
