3 Los Angeles Lakers who could still be traded this offseason
By Nick Halden
1. Talen Horton-Tucker
The Lakers now know what the rest of the league does: Talen Horton-Tucker is a valuable player only when everything around him is working. If the offense isn’t humming Talen isn’t going to be a part of the solution with any consistency. Among the egregious mistakes the Lakers have made over the last two years, keeping Talen when instead of re-signing Alex Caruso is among the most unforgivable.
At this point, the Lakers will be trading Talen at his lowest value. However, they should still be willing to make any deal that takes Talen off the books and brings back anything of value. It seems likely the team could acquire a veteran role player sending Horton-Tucker to a young team looking to rebuild his value.
Trading THT isn’t as much about what you get back as it is sending his salary elsewhere and giving him and the Lakers both a fresh start. His inconsistent level of play isn’t going to get it done for a team looking to win right now.
THT has had some great moments in a Lakers uniform unfortunately they are far outweighed by his inconsistency and poor decision-making on the court. It would be surprising if THT begins the season still wearing a Lakers uniform.
