4. New York Knicks

It was a rough season to be a Lakers or a Knicks fan in what were two very disappointing seasons filled with high expectations.  The Lakers were coming off of an injury-riddled series loss to the Suns while the Knicks had a full offseason to remember Trae Young’s performance that ended their season.

Two teams with playoff expectations who were never close to contending last season. So where does Russell Westbrook fit into this? The Knicks are in the process of clearing cap space to attempt to pry Jalen Brunson away from Dallas. Bringing Brunson to New York is the focus of the offseason.

However, the Knicks being the Knicks there is a high probability the deal fails to come together and the front office is left searching for an answer. Westbrook on the Knicks certainly would be box office for a fanbase desperate for any success or star to hold onto.

Of all the possible fits this one is certainly the least unlikely, however, if the Knicks are unable to secure Brunson the Lakers should make the Knicks an offer perhaps they will be desperate enough to find a star to take it.

Westbrook spending the final year of his deal in New York after stops in Houston, Los Angeles, and Washington would feel right for a player who no matter his performance is without question box office.
