The Los Angeles Lakers were back at it in the summer league taking on the Golden State Warriors after taking an impressive win over the Miami Heat Saturday. The Lake Show was very impressive blowing out the Heat 100-66 in a game that showed a lot by way of different schemes the Lakers implemented, but based on Miami’s horrible performance, the quality of execution was yet to be determined.
After Miami got blown out again earlier in the day 81-64 by the Sacramento Kings, this game would show more of what the Lakers were made of in the structured play of head coach, Phil Handy.
Let’s consider this yet another accomplishment on the early checklist as the Lakers followed up Saturday’s dominating opening performance in the California Classic with another strong performance to run away from the Golden State Warriors.
Just like the previous game, the Lakers took about ten minutes to figure out their opponent before shutting down the Warriors to the tune of a 100-77 victory. At this point, Phil Handy has outcoached his counterparts in ways of getting his team to be consistent, executing their half-court offense and overwhelming the opposition with physicality on defense.
Now it will be difficult to see outside of Jay Huff if any of these players are ready for a roster spot on opening night, but this team has the combination of talent and competitive spirit to go undefeated and take home the championship of the summer league.
Much like the staff of Lake Show Life said in the previous post-game report, it is really refreshing to see progress and growth in not only the players on the summer league roster but the overall culture and vision that centered around two-way basketball that Darvin Ham will be demanding this season.
This is a special Lake Show Life Lessons presentation brought back for the summer leagues. This is different from the regular season because no one should care about the final score. The next several pages are specifically for the progress and analysis for the Lakers draft pick in Max Christie, the two-way players in Scotty Pippen Jr. and Shareef O’Neal, the free-agent signee Cole Swider and finally, the South Bay Lakers that could be the next Alex Caruso being a diamond in the rough.
