Kenneth Faried talks how he can help the Lakers, styles of play and impact
By Ronald Agers
How “The Manimal” adjusted his game to fit the NBA game with positionless basketball and players playing multiple positions…
Lake Show Life’s take:
The Los Angeles Lakers should be able to implement Kenneth’s game into their offensive schemes. Faried should put Lakers fans in the mindset of Montrezl Harrell, who dominated in his one season from the dunker’s spot when perimeter players such as LeBron James and Dennis Schroder drove to the basket and dropped it off at the baseline for easy baskets.
Many believe (Including Lake Show Life!) that Harrell’s contributions were taken for granted by former coach Frank Vogel when the Lakers signed Andre Drummond after the trade deadline when he was bought out. When Vogel tried to force-feed the Lake Show’s new center minutes to get ready for the playoffs, Trezl’s production diminished with fewer minutes on the floor.
For the season, Montrezl Harrell’s numbers matched up quite well with Kenneth Faried’s career numbers…
- Harrell: 13.5 points and 6.2 rebounds while shooting 62.2 percent from the field in 22 minutes.
- Faried: 11.1 points and 8.1 rebounds while shooting 54.4 percent from the field in 24 minutes.
“The Manimal”‘s jumper is improved, but the Los Angeles Lakers already can use his talents by the way he shows up every single night playing hard and being ready much like Montrezl Harrell did in his career in Los Angeles with the Clippers and the Lakers.
The Lakers have gone younger, but they still need that veteran presence in the locker room to be that liaison between the big three and the younger players. If you don’t think this is important as you read this, look back to last year and how badly the Lake Show could have used Jared Dudley on the bench when things started to go south.
The next question was about how he keeps his high level of energy on the basketball court that warrants the nickname “The Manimal”. After playing basketball for over a decade, Kenneth shares his secrets on how he stays prepared…read on!
