Lakers should make this Talen Horton-Tucker trade for sharpshooting forward

When you’re a fan of the Los Angeles Lakers, you’re likely used to hearing a ton of trade rumors. One player that has been increasingly involved in Lakers trade rumors is wing Talen Horton-Tucker.
The 21-year-old has found himself in the center of most Lakers trade rumors this offseason and this is not uncharted territory. He has become the team’s new version of Kyle Kuzma.
With the team having very few tradable assets, it makes sense why. The Iowa State Alum is also not on the Lakers’ timeline. The team is looking to compete for a ring, and it’s clear Horton-Tucker isn’t ready.
A Talen Horton-Tucker trade package for the Lakers to consider:
A player perfect for a Lakers playoff run is sharpshooting forward Doug McDermott. As a three-point specialist, the former lottery pick has made a name for himself in this league. The North Dakota native has a career three-point percentage of 41%. While the expectations didn’t pan out for McDermott, he’s still had a solid career being an effective role player on multiple teams.
McDermott is coming off one of his best seasons, with the Spurs averaging 11.3 PPG. Since switching to being a PF, he’s had immense success and is regarded as one of the better PF role players in the league.
The trade makes a lot of sense for both sides. With the Spurs rebuilding, they will receive two younger players with potential while getting rid of an aging veteran. Horton-Tucker presents a project piece for a rebuilding team and legendary coach Gregg Popovich.
The team will have to give something else back to make the trade a little more even and to make the contracts work, so this writer added Keita Bates-Diop and a second-round pick.
With the Horton-Tucker trade market sinking each day, it only makes sense to move on from him and replace him with someone that helps this team. This trade helps the Lake show address its biggest hole. The team doesn’t have a real three-point specialist or a forward that can stretch the floor. Without the team addressing this need, they’re doomed for another disappointing season.
The Lake Show also gets another second-round pick to add to their arsenal of assets to either trade or keep. This second-rounder could come up very significant in a potential Kyrie Irving trade. Or if the team can use it in the 2023 NBA Draft.
This writer believes this is a very beneficial trade for both sides. The Spurs get younger and get a piece with potential. While the Lakers get a solid veteran piece to help push them to the playoffs. It will be interesting to see if the team can get a deal done in the
