2. Kris Dunn

There is a lot of opportunity with Kris Dunn still on the free-agent market. Injuries have derailed Kris Dunn’s career thus far and a lot of fans (and teams) have seemed to forget just how good he was before these injuries.

It was not that long ago as well. Dunn’s best season was the 2019-20 season with the Chicago Bulls, where he recorded a 3.1 Defensive Box Plus/Minus. Dunn had the third-best DBPM in the league that season (among players with 1,000 minutes played) and was the best among guards.

He beat out the likes of Alex Caruso and Matisse Thybulle, who consistently rank atop the league in the position. Not only were his advanced numbers great, but his traditional stats were eye-popping as well. Dunn averaged 2.9 steals per 36 minutes that season. That ranked first in the entire NBA.

Dunn has played only 18 games over the last two seasons but he is still only 28 years old. Not only is he still on the younger side but he also had pedigree. Dunn was the fifth overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, after all.

There is not a lot of offensive potential there with Dunn but that is fine. His role would be a defensive guard off the bench that could really deepen the Lakers’ rotation. Plus, it is not like Westbrook is much of a positive impact on the offensive end anyway.
