All-NBA guard has wild Draymond Green-Lakers theory
By Jason Reed
Draymond Green has made himself the biggest story in the NBA due to his altercation with Jordan Poole. Footage of the altercation was leaked to TMZ Sports and it got even worse for Green. This was more than just a school-yard shoving match with a light punch, this was a full Superman punch that should get the Los Angeles Lakers’ attention.
A story like this is worth monitoring for the Lakers, especially if it could pave the way for a Russell Westbrook trade. There is an interesting three-team trade the Lakers could work out for Draymond Green if the Warriors did end up wanting to shop him.
It is going to be an awkward setting in that Warriors locker room with Green. With Green having a player option for next season and Poole being the younger, better player, perhaps the Warriors could actually be convinced to move Draymond for the right price.
And maybe that is exactly what Draymond Green wants. At least that is what All-NBA guard Trae Young thinks, as Young theorized on Twitter that Green is doing this to get to the Lakers.
Draymond Green’s relationship with LeBron James makes this Lakers theory plausible.
Obviously, Draymond Green didn’t punch Jordan Poole in the moment because he was thinking about how wonderful it would be to be in Los Angeles with his buddy, LeBron James. However, it absolutely is plausible that Green’s motivation after this event could be to get out of the Bay Area down I-5 to LA.
LeBron and Green seem to have a great relationship and you definitely know that LeBron will be in his ear if there are any sort of rumblings that Green could get traded. LeBron will also be in Rob Pelinka’s ear to make the trade happen, even if Lakers fans would prefer a simple Pacers trade.
Green not only gets to leave Golden State but he would not have to uproot his entire life as he would be in California still. Plus, there is no better place for the “new media” to be than Los Angeles. LeBron came here for lifestyle decisions and Green might see that potential business opportunity.
It will be interesting to see how this Green situation develops and how the Lakers could be included. The Warriors are going to do their PR reps to calm this storm but it is going to be a very awkward season between Green and Poole.
