The Los Angeles Lakers made their first trade before the deadline earlier this week, adding Rui Hachimura for the price of three second-round picks (one of which being a pick swap). This was a well-received move for the Lakers as fans were growing desperate to see some kind of fresh blood in Los Angeles.

Rob Pelinka went out and hyped up the fanbase prior to Tuesday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers as well. Pelinka channeled his inner Kobe Bryant, telling Lakers fans that the job isn’t finished.

There is a buzz around the Lakers right now that is palpable with the fanbase hoping that the team does indeed continue making trades. If so, there are some key targets at each position that Pelinka may look to snag.

Lakers trade rumors: 1 player at every position to consider

Point guard: Alex Caruso, Chicago Bulls

To be clear, point guard is the position that the Los Angeles Lakers need the least at this point in time. There are plenty of guards on the roster and even if Patrick Beverley is traded the Lakers can fill in the minutes at point guard.

Thus, if the team is going to trade for any point guard it would have to be Alex Caruso. Caruso being traded at the deadline is far from a guarantee as the speculation around him has slowed down in recent weeks.

That being said, the Bulls have not gotten out to the hot stretch that they might have been expecting. If the team doesn’t think it can contend this season then it should go the other way and try to get its own first-round pick back (it is top-four protected to Orlando).

Los Angeles Lakers fans would welcome Alex Caruso back with open arms.

Don’t expect Los Angeles to trade for a point guard at the deadline unless someone like Caruso becomes available. If he does then Pelinka should definitely make the phone call.
