The Los Angeles Lakers take on the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night in a game that is going to be very telling for the purple and gold. While Phoenix has a spot in the playoffs secured and is the favorite to win the conference, the Lakers are still battling to climb the Western Conference ladder and secure their fate as a playoff team.

LeBron James and Kevin Durant are not going to be suiting up in this game as both players have been out with their respective injuries and are just hoping to return in time for the NBA Playoffs.

But it is still a star-studded matchup that is sure to be entertaining on national television. That being said, it is going to be an even easier matchup for the Lakers considering Deandre Ayton’s injury status.

Deandre Ayton injury update vs Lakers:

Deandre Ayton has officially been ruled OUT of Wednesday’s matchup against the Lakers with a hip injury. Ayton missed the Suns’ last game on Sunday, which resulted in a loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The already-thin Suns are going to have to turn to Bismack Biyombo and Jock Landale to hold down the fort at the center position with Ayton out of action. It should allow Anthony Davis to feast on the Suns.

Speaking of Davis…

Lakers injury report vs Suns:

Anthony Davis does find himself on the injury report for Wednesday’s matchup against the Suns but that is simply precautionary. Davis has been on every injury report since he returned from injury and has only missed the second leg of back-to-backs.

There are no new injuries for the Lakers to deal with. LeBron is still out of action as is Mo Bamba but the rest of the supporting cast is good to go against Phoenix.

Los Angeles is going to need all the help it can get as the Suns have won nine games in a row dating back to the 2021 NBA Playoffs.
