The Los Angeles Lakers looked like they were en route to a regulation win over the Minnesota Timberwolves in the NBA Play-In Tournament. LeBron James hit Dennis Schroder for a clutch corner three and forced Minnesota to make a three with less than three seconds remaining.

It would have taken an improbable shot for the Timberwolves to extend the game and in classic Lakers fashion, the T-Wolves were able to pull off just that. Anthony Davis fouled Mike Conley on a corner three attempt and NBA Twitter rightfully exploded.

NBA stars react to Anthony Davis’ awful foul to send Lakers to overtime:

Former Laker Kyle Kuzma weighed in on the foul just hours after he tweeted that he thought the Lakers were going to the NBA Finals. He had no words for AD’s foul on Mike Conley.

Fox Sports’ Emmanuel Acho did not mince words regarding Davis, pointing out that this is not the first time that Davis has fallen asleep at the wheel at the end of a pivotal game.

Of course, it would not be a viral moment without the memes to instantly follow. Davis rightfully became the target of memes from fans and media outlets alike, with FanDuel taking a stab at the all-star big man.

It also would not be a viral NBA moment if Kendricks Perkins didn’t chime in. Perkins also didn’t mince any words for Anthony Davis, bringing up his age and experience in the league as a reason why this should have never happened.

Luckily, the Lakers were able to come away with the victory in overtime and will advance to the NBA Playoffs as the seventh seed. They play the Memphis Grizzlies in round one.
