3. Donte DiVincenzo
The Warriors have had a knack for getting the most out of role players in a similar fashion as the Lakers. While the Lakers have been great at finding hidden gems and helping them realize their potential, the Warriors have been great at taking on reclamation projects and increasing their value.
Just look at Andrew Wiggins. That was someone who nobody in the league wanted because of his contract and he turned into the second-best player on the Warriors’ 2022 championship team. Golden State’s system is just that great.
Donte DiVincenzo isn’t quite Wiggins-level of turnaround but he has definitely increased his value in one season with the Warriors. DiVincenzo has a player option for the 2023-24 season that is set to pay him $4.7 million. It would be shocking to see him stay in the Bay Area for that price.
Donte DiVincenzo can make more by testing the free-agent market
DiVincenzo is not going to break the bank but he certainly can make around double of what he is currently making with the Warriors. If Golden State was a bonafide contender then maybe he would stay to try and get a ring but at this point, it is far better for his career if he opts out of his deal.
DiVincenzo averaged 9.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 26.3 minutes per game. More importantly, he shot 39.7% from three on 5.3 attempts per game and has played serviceable defense all season long.
There is a three-year, $24 million contract awaiting DiVincenzo from some team that needs shooting and defense this summer.
