3. Damion Lee

For Damion Lee‘s ties to Ham, we have to go all the way back to their days with the Atlanta Hawks. As mentioned, Ham has been a long-time assistant for Mike Budenholzer and that dated back to his stint with the Atlanta Hawks, which ended in 2018.

Lee’s first season in the league was with the Hawks, which ended up being his only season with Atlanta. When Ham and Budenzholer left so did Lee, as he signed a two-way contract with the Golden State Warriors.

Lee landed on the Hawks via a 10-day contract initially. He played well enough to earn a second 10-day contract and eventually a full-time roster spot to end the year on what was a pretty bad Hawks team. He didn’t do much in his several years with Golden State but he has proven his value this past season with the Phoenix Suns.

Damion Lee would add great three-point shooting to the Lakers

Lee has always been someone who could knock down shots off the ball, he just never had the chance for consistent playing time to prove this at the NBA level. He got that with the Phoenix Suns on a one-year prove-it deal this past season.

The 30-year-old shooting guard averaged 20.4 minutes for the Suns last season, playing in 74 games. He averaged 3.3 three-point attempts per game and shot 44.5% from beyond the arc. Shooting over 44% on over 200 attempts is nothing to scoff at and is something the Lakers could definitely benefit from.
