The purple and gold are the two most iconic colors in the NBA as they are worn by the most prestigious team in the NBA. Being able to wear a Los Angeles Lakers jersey has been a privilege for so many players as so many legends of the sport have done the same.
Ever since Nike took over the production of the NBA jerseys Lakers fans have gotten new jerseys to rock every year. Whether it be the scaly “Black Mamba” jerseys or the throwback whites, there have been some great alternate jerseys to emerge in recent years.
However, there have also been some misses and there may not be a miss bigger than the latest jersey that got leaked. Nothing has been confirmed yet, so fans don’t have to fully panic, but the latest Lakers jersey leak has revealed one of the ugliest jerseys in team history.
It is important to note that Twitter user @skunwong32 has correctly leaked previous NBA jerseys in the past before they were officially released. Their Twitter feed is full of jerseys that have since been used by respective NBA teams.
Update: Another leak has been provided that shows the entire jersey with the shorts as well, not just the zoomed-in logo.

Lakers fans don’t seem thrilled by the new leaked Lakers jerseys
We have not seen the jersey in real life and sometimes, looks online can be deceiving. That being said, the pyramid-style Los Angeles font in this leak is far from being a site for sore eyes. As ridiculous as it looks, the Lakers have actually used a similar logo for 75th-anniversary merchandise, so it checks out in being a real possibility.
Fans on social media are rejecting the jersey, calling it “hideous” and the “worst jerseys of the Nike era” on the Lakers sub-Reddit. Sports fans already hate change and it can be really hard to get them to buy into new jerseys. It is even harder when they look like this.
If this ends up being the team’s City Edition jerseys for the 2023-24 season then fans are going to have to get used to seeing them on a regular basis. Maybe then it will grow on fans but right now, it is not looking promising.
