Lakers’ Austin Reaves looks awfully a lot like Stephen Curry (on the links)

The summer of 2023 has officially been rebranded as the summer of Austin Reaves. The second-year undrafted free agent rose to the national spotlight in the 2023 NBA Playoffs as he became a huge factor in the Los Angeles Lakers’ push to the Western Conference Finals.

That earned Reaves a four-year, $53.8 million contract from Los Angeles in what was arguably the most compelling free agency situation in the league this offseason.

After all of that Reaves went on to represent Team USA in the 2023 FIBA World Cup. While Team USA ultimately fell short and finished in fourth place, Reaves had a massive coming-out party as he proved he belonged with the best young players in the game.

Reaves has become a massive fan favorite in Los Angeles during this rapid ascension with Lakers fans interested in everything he does on and off the court. This includes on the golf course, as Lakers fans have discovered Reaves’ personal golf TikTok account, which is now going viral on social media. And of course, because he is Austin Reaves, he has to be a really good golfer as well.

It is no secret that Stephen Curry has become the gold standard for NBA players on the golf course but Austin Reaves might be creeping up behind the all-time great. Reaves didn’t drill a hole-in-one in this video like Curry has but his swing is smooth as butter.

As someone who has been a golf hack his entire life, it is a bit frustrating to see how easy it seems to come to Reaves. He is already one of the best basketball players on the entire planet, does he really have to have a perfect golf swing that the average golfer yearns for?

Celebrity-athlete golf matches have become a fixture on the sports calendar with Curry being involved in the most recent one alongside Klay Thompson, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.

It is unclear if the Lakers have another golfer on the roster but it would be interesting to see Reaves highlighted on a massive stage like that, especially as his star power grows. Who knows, maybe he could pair up with Curry next time that he takes on a star from another sport. Austin Reaves vs. Tom Brady? Sign us up.
