The Los Angeles Lakers officially started the journey to the franchise’s 18th championship on Saturday night. Los Angeles was on the road to take on the Golden State Warriors in the team’s first preseason game of the new year.

While it is not quite the same as Opening Night, there is still a lot to learn about the team during the preseason. The outcomes may not matter but fans can start to get an idea of what the Lake Show is going to look like.

One preseason game is not going to make or break someone’s season but it is still nice to see certain players balling out in this setting. There were several Lakers players who made the most of the first real NBA action of the year, and one who did not take advantage.

Lakers winner: Anthony Davis

Anthony Davis was the best player for either team when he was out there on the floor. LeBron James did not play in this game, giving Davis a chance to be the true No. 1 while he played alongside his new teammates.

Davis played just 13 minutes of preseason action but it was a dominant 13 minutes. In those 13 minutes, Davis was able to score 15 points and haul in five rebounds.

The most exciting part about Davis’ outing against the Warriors was how he looked from beyond the arc. There has been a lot of talk this offseason about Davis expanding his game and working on his jump shot. So far Davis is seeing the results of his hard work as he made two of his three shots from beyond the arc.

All in all, Davis had the exact kind of game you want to see out of a superstar in the preseason. He got in, dominated really quickly, and got out.
