1. Christian Wood

The Lakers are still early in the C-Wood experience. The 28-year-old is in his eighth year in the NBA and on his eighth different team. His longest stint with any organization is just two years, which is surprising for a player who averages 14.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks in 24.1 minutes per game for his career.

Wood has never played in the postseason. That was supposed to change last season when he was traded to the Mavericks. Dallas was in the conference finals in 2022 and desperately needed an upgrade at the five. C-Wood averaged 17.9 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 1.0 block in the previous season for the Rockets, but struggled to find a consistent role in Dallas. Wood still put up stats. He did not impact winning, and the Mavs shockingly missed the postseason entirely.

Through two games, Christian Wood is still finding his place with the Lakers. He put up 7.0 points and 7.0 rebounds in 18.5 minutes per game. The 28-year-old is the team’s backup center and plays the second-most off the bench. Will this finally be C-Wood’s time to shine on a contender?

Christian Wood wants to prove he can contribute to winning, but history suggests he cannot. The Los Angeles Lakers will regret this signing if they struggle, and Wood is unhappy with his role. It is early, but C-Wood is certainly a player to watch as the season progresses.
