The athleticism of the Lakers forward will be a welcomed sight in the rotation.

One of the things that sticks out like a sore thumb any time the Los Angeles Lakers are on the screen is just how much athleticism they lack by comparison to most of their opponents. It's something Rob Pelinka will undoubtedly need to focus on when remodeling the roster in the summer. One possible solution to fixing that problem could already be on the roster, though.

Adou Thiero has not gotten much run with the Lakers' main unit at the NBA level yet. There has been nothing of major significance, at the very least. However, the 2025 second-round pick is showing over and over just how much athleticism he has to spare for when JJ Redick is ready to play him.

Whether that is any point this season, or (more likely) in 2026-27, Thiero should offer a healthy boost to a department the Lakers are so desperately craving help in. His recent G League performances have only validated how true that should be.

Adou Thiero's athleticism continues to shine with South Bay in the G League

Sometimes it just feels like Thiero is flying on a basketball court. Whether it be on offense or defense, the movements of the Lakers' draft pick can look incredible.

Athleticism was always the selling point for Thiero coming out of college. The idea was that if the former Arkansas man could develop a reliable shot to pair with his physical tools and ability to attack downhill, that would be a valuable player for any rotation.

The ability to shoot is still more of a long-term project for Thiero. In the present day, the standout traits that were on display in the NCAA are shining with the South Bay Lakers at the G League level.

On Feb. 20, Thiero finished the 127-105 win over the Texas Legends with an impressive box score. The Lakers forward had 19 points and seven rebounds, shooting 7-of-8 from the field, in just 20 minutes of action.

In more recent action, Thiero put up another strong game in the 113-99 win for South Bay over the Valley Suns. The Lakers' high-flyer finished with 14 points, seven rebounds, and one block in 24 minutes played.

Any time you throw on a South Bay game and Thiero is on the court, it feels like only a matter of time until he does something to wow you with his athleticism. Assuming his development goes as planned this season, that excitement should move to Los Angeles in 2026-27.
