The surging Los Angeles Lakers will continue their homestand on Thursday when they host the Timberwolves, who could be without their best player.
Minnesota isn't the team everyone thought they'd be this season after making a run to the Western Conference Finals in 2024. The pre-training camp Karl-Anthony Towns trade changed everything for the Timberwolves in a way they weren't hoping for. The two players Minnesota received in the trade — Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo — have missed time with injuries.
The Timberwolves are coming off their best win of the season: a 131-128 overtime win over the Thunder after being down by as many as 25 in the second half. Anthony Edwards blocked Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's go-ahead shot attempt with 13.2 seconds left in overtime. He spent most of the fourth quarter on the bench because of his calf.
Minnesota could be without its young star on Thursday, as he's listed as questionable. If he's out, he'll join a few other starters who are sidelined, including Rudy Gobert.
