Chris Manon was the star of the show for the Los Angeles Lakers' 88-84 victory over the San Antonio Spurs at the California Classic. The Lakers guard posted 24 points, shooting 7-of-10 from the field and 2-of-3 from beyond the arc, eight rebounds, three blocks, two steals, and two assists.
It was the type of defensive performance that reminded Lakers fans why they are so high on Manon. It was also the kind of offensive performance that showcased encouraging signs of growth to the franchise and their player development team. Their young guard was legit on both ends.
there is no reason for chris manon to be on a two way anymore man Lakers gotta stop messin around with him

Lakers fans started calling out for Manon's future with the franchise to be secured. The problem with that is Los Angeles already has so many roster spots accounted for. Granted, there should be more moves on the way, and that could open up a chance for him to join the main roster.
The most direct pathway would be to replace Bronny James. The idea of LeBron James' next team putting the call in to acquire the young Lakers guard has been picking up steam. The Stein Line even reported the Cleveland Cavaliers are keeping a spot open for the younger James. If the Lakers do part ways with him, Manon could get his shot.
Bronny James' departure would open the door for Chris Manon on the Lakers roster
Manon is currently signed to a two-way deal with the Lakers. That should indicate that Los Angeles believes he is mightily close to being a full-time NBA talent. The next step does not happen without James leaving.
The Lakers currently have plenty of depth at the guard position. Meanwhile, they are still on the search for upgrades on the wings and at the backup center spot. That pushes Manon down the priority list for Los Angeles.
With the current reported trades and signings, the Lakers have two open roster spots. That is just enough to add the wing and backup five they are looking for.
Naturally, the Lakers could explore trades to unload some of their current players to keep roster flexibility with those spots and get the upgrades they are looking for. If that happens, and Bronny is shipped off to join LeBron, a cheap deal for Manon immediately makes a ton more sense to fill out the back end of their retooled roster.
It would be a vote of confidence for a player who has developed nicely within the Lakers' system. There should be sound belief in thinking that Manon could pay it off down the line, too.
