The Los Angeles Lakers will host the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday night. LA is trying to get back on track amid their recent struggles. The Lakers, who are now 13-12 overall, were most recently defeated 97-87 by the Minnesota Timberwolves. LeBron James did not play against the Timberwolves. James and Anthony Davis are both on the NBA injury report for Sunday night's game.
It should be noted that Davis was also listed on the injury report for the Lakers-Timberwolves game. However, he ultimately played in the defeat.
As for Sunday's game, Davis is currently listed as probable due to left plantar fasciitis, while James is listed as questionable due to left foot injury management.
LeBron James' injury
James has displayed signs of decline as he approaches his 40th birthday. Still, LeBron is recording numbers that many players can only dream of. Additionally, he has managed to stay healthy for the most part in the 2024-25 season.
LeBron will enter the game against the Grizzlies averaging 23 points, 9.1 assists and 8.0 rebounds per outing. James is also shooting 49.5 percent on his field goal attempts. LeBron enjoyed a career-best year from a three-point shooting standpoint a season ago, connecting on 41 percent of his long-range attempts. This season, however, James is shooting 35.9 percent from deep.
Although LeBron isn't playing up to his standards, the Lakers still clearly need him on the floor. He has only failed to play in two games this year, and the Lakers are 1-1 in those contests.
Anthony Davis likely to play in Grizzlies-Lakers game
Davis, who is listed as probable, will likely play against the Grizzlies. He has only not played in one game this year, a matchup LA ultimately lost.
The 31-year-old is averaging 27.3 points per outing while shooting 52.7 percent from the field. The Lakers star is averaging 11.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 2.0 blocks and 1.2 steals per game as well.
In all reality, the Lakers need Davis to play at an MVP level. LeBron is not the same player he once was and Los Angeles' depth has been questionable at times this season. If the Lakers want to make a serious postseason run in the Western Conference, Davis needs to play at an especially high level.
The Grizzlies and Lakers will go head-to-head on Sunday night at 9:30 PM EST as LeBron James and Anthony Davis hope to be available.
