The Los Angeles Lakers have several former players searching for NBA gigs in free agency, but not all are forgotten ones. Russell Westbrook is drawing some interest, but remains unsigned. Gabe Vincent’s disastrous stint with the Lakers has left him looking for a new gig and LA being proven right. Nick Smith Jr. and Maxi Kleber are unsigned from last year’s roster. Those aren’t the only ones.
To qualify for this list, the player had to play at least one NBA game with the Lakers. There are no G League players or ones who were traded again before suiting up in Los Angeles. It also had to be a brief and easy-to-forget stint wearing purple and gold.
Lonnie Walker IV wouldn’t qualify for this list, but he just signed with the Nuggets. That likely got fans thinking about who else is still available. Here are three former Lakers still searching for NBA gigs.
Cam Reddish is still searching for an NBA job
Reddish last appeared in the NBA with the Lakers. He was waived in March 2025 to make room for Jordan Goodwin. They had agreed to trade him to Charlotte before the deadline, but Mark Williams’ failed physical rescinded the agreement. Reddish struggled to make shots and just couldn’t find a consistent role over his two seasons in Los Angeles.
The 6’7 wing spent last season playing nine games in the G League and nine more in Lithuania. He was on the Magic’s summer league roster, but a knee injury prevented him from suiting up. The 26-year-old is looking for another NBA shot. No deal has materialized, but don’t be surprised if Reddish accepts a training camp invite with some team if he gets healthy.
He averaged 4.5 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.0 steal in 19.4 minutes per game over his 81 contests with the Lakers. Reddish shot just 39.3 percent from the field and 31.8 percent on his 3-point attempts. The inefficiency, defense, and lack of overall production forced his NBA opportunities to dry up. The former lottery pick is eager to prove he belongs, but can’t find a shot.
Drew Timme rumors haven’t materialized
The Lakers had Timme on a two-way contract last season. He played in 27 games, but averaged just 8.4 minutes per contest. Fans may remember his 21-point game against the Blazers that accounted for 22 percent of his points scored for the season. LeBron even praised him afterward. Otherwise, it was a forgettable stint with the purple and gold.
The 6’9 big man struggles to defend and is a score-first player. Lakers fans aren’t surprised Rob Pelinka targeted him, but it didn’t work. Timme has a negative value over replacement player (VORP) over his first 36 career NBA games, and there have been no rumors about the 25-year-old signing elsewhere.
This is pretty fresh, but Timme will quickly become a forgotten Laker if he isn't already. In his only 20-point game, the Lakers lost by 16. Timme just isn't an NBA player.
Spencer Dinwiddie wants to return to the NBA
Dinwiddie made headlines for his remarks after not being named among the best free agents in early July. The 6’5 guard hasn’t played in the NBA since the 2024-25 season. He was a strong scorer and playmaker, but his NBA days are likely over.
Dinwiddie averaged 12.1 points, 3.1 assists, and 2.2 rebounds in 24.3 minutes per game last season for Bayern Munich over 17 contests. He shot just 39.1 percent from the field and 34.1 percent on his 3-point attempts. His scoring inefficiency and lack of defense forced him to bounce around, and his decline has made interest dry up.
Dinwiddie signed with the Lakers in February 2024 after being bought out by the Raptors. He averaged just 6.8 points and 2.4 assists in 24.2 minutes per game. Dinwiddie had a negative VORP and was even worse in the playoffs. The Lakers moved on after the disastrous half-season.
These forgotten Los Angeles Lakers are searching for work, but the free agent market is almost dried up. Teams are mostly handing out training camp and non-guaranteed contracts at this stage. Everyone on this list just wants a chance, and fans should stay tuned to see if they get one.
