The Los Angeles Lakers are not trading Bronny James after LeBron James picked the Philadelphia 76ers as his next team. The Sixers have a full roster and will have to move some salary to make room for King James. They are loaded with guards and have no reason to trade for Bronny. The Lakers want real value in return, and the Sixers have no reason to give it up.
Philly has Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe starting in the backcourt. They just drafted Labaron Philon in the first round and signed Anfernee Simons in free agency. Beyond that, Justin Edwards and Dalen Terry are on their roster. The Sixers need wing depth and do not need Bronny.
LeBron shockingly chose Philadelphia in free agency. King James informed the Lakers he was leaving before free agency kicked off. Most people believed he was headed back to Miami or Cleveland, but the GOAT had other ideas. He chose the Sixers, and his new franchise does not need his son.

The Lakers have no reason to dump Bronny. He significantly improved in his second NBA season, but the 21-year-old has yet to crack the Lakers' nightly rotation. The second-round pick is set to make just $2.3 million this season and gives LA valuable depth. If his shooting and defense continue to improve, the fan favorite could become part of the rotation quickly.
James averaged 2.9 points and 1.2 assists in 8.9 minutes per game last season. He shot 38.6 percent from 3-point range in the NBA and made 37.6 percent from long range over 20 G League games. Bronny must become a plus shooter to crack the rotation, and he looks well on his way.
Bronny is out of excuses. LeBron wanted to play with his son, so the Lakers drafted him in the second round in 2024. They spent two years developing the 6’2 guard. Bronny was not leaving the Lakers with King James on their roster. Now that LeBron is in Philly, his son has to earn his spot on his own merits.
Head coach JJ Redick is a fan of Bronny. He hasn’t put him in the rotation every night, but continues to find opportunities for the young guard. Redick believes Bronny can turn into an impactful reserve guard like Jose Alvarado and TJ McConnell. James showed growth last season and needs to remain on that trajectory moving forward.
The 76ers have no reason to add Bronny. He would be at best a third-string guard on a team chasing a championship. Philly has no investment in his development and no reason to give up real assets they might need to improve their roster at the trade deadline.
