Luka Doncic just literally laughed in the face of Mavs trade return from Lakers

Some things just can't be scripted.

On Tuesday night, the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks squared off for the first time since the Luka Doncic trade that took the world by storm. Nico Harrison sent Doncic to the Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and a first-round pick. And he wasted no time going nuclear.

Within the first few minutes of the game, Doncic had seven points, four rebounds, two assists, one steal, one block, and what felt like a million chances to trash-talk the Mavs. It was an electric showing as the first quarter was dominated by Doncic and Kyrie Irving, both of whom were leading their team in the scoring column.

But Doncic’s showing was highlighted by something that had nothing to do with his actual stats.

With just over four minutes left in the first quarter, Christie had the ball at the top of the key. Doncic was guarding him. Christie drove by Doncic, the man he was traded for, but was met at the rim by Rui Hachimura.

Hachimura emphatically blocked him at the rim, sending Christie crashing to the ground. As the Lakers were running in transition, Doncic seemingly looked back at Christie on the ground and laughed.

It was almost as if he was literally laughing at the package the Mavs got back for him in the trade, thinking, ‘This is what they traded me for?’ Remember when Jimmy Butler said, ‘Tobias Harris over me?’ That’s what this felt like.

Except it was Doncic thinking, ‘Max Christie over me?’ There’s levels to this.

And that was far from the only time Doncic let the Mavs know how he felt about the trade. Multiple times throughout the course of the first quarter, Doncic could be seen glancing over at the Dallas bench, staring them down, laughing, and screaming.

Everything Doncic touched in the first quarter turned to gold (pun intended), and there was nothing that the Mavericks could do about it.

There was nobody more shocked than Doncic when the trade was announced. He was left completely in the dark, and Harrison and the Mavs completely altered the course of the life he thought he was destined to live.

Now, any time Doncic’s Lakers take on the Mavericks, expect a performance like this. It doesn’t think this type of attitude is going anywhere anytime soon.

Unfortunately for Mavericks fans, they’re going to have to deal with a revenge-fueled Doncic for many, many years to come.
