Ayo Dosunmu, Chicago Bulls

The Los Angeles Lakers are currently shopping point guard D'Angelo Russell. It's a significant development as far as the team's long-term future is concerned, as Los Angeles is looking for an immediate upgrade over one of the most productive players at the position.

Ayo Dosunmu isn't quite as productive as Russell, but with a combination of immediate value and untapped potential, he's a captivating player to consider.

Dosunmu, 24, is a 6'5" and 200-pound guard with a 6'10.25" wingspan. There have been flashes of elite defensive potential, as well as displays of a combo guard style skill set that would fit well in JJ Redick's offensive system, which aspires to alleviate the playmaking burden from any one player.

This past season, Dosunmu averaged 12.2 points, 3.2 assists, 2.8 rebounds, 0.9 steals, and 1.6 three-point field goals made on .501/.403/810 shooting.

In terms of why the Chicago Bulls would part with Dosunmu, it all begins with the fact that he'll be an unrestricted free agent in 2026. Chicago may be willing to wait it out and pay his eventual asking price, but Zach LaVine makes upwards of $45 million per season and Coby White will enter free agency in 2026, as well.

If Chicago doesn't see a way to keep Dosunmu long-term, then the Lakers could potentially get something done for a two-way talent with an impressive jump shot and shot-creating abilities.
