Blake Hinson

There have been some ups and downs for Lakers rookie Blake Hinson, but the positives have been undeniably intriguing. A sharpshooting forward with length and a high release point on his side, Hinson will play the 2024-25 season on a two-way contract.

Hinson measured at 6'6" and 240 pounds with a 6'10.25" wingspan at the 2024 NBA G League Elite Camp, and has shown early signs of 3-and-D potential.

Hinson opened the California Classic with a bang, posting 17 points, three rebounds, two assists, and one steal with five three-point field goals made. It was an encouraging sign of what he could ultimately become in the purple and gold.

Unfortunately, he shot 2-of-10 the next time out and went 1-of-8 in the final game of the California Classic, thus bringing the proverbial hype train to a screeching halt.

Shooting 1-of-7 in the Las Vegas opener did him no favors, but Hinson got back on the right track against the Boston Celtics. He shot 3-of-6 from the field and 2-of-4 from beyond the arc, attempting shots in a more controlled manner and finding his niche in more of an off-ball role.

Yes, there have been more underwhelming performances than encouraging showings, but Hinson's skill set and willingness to shoot through his struggles offer promising signs.
