Armel Traore

One of the most intriguing acquisitions of the 2024 offseason has been French forward Armel Traore. A 6'9" forward with a massive 7'3" wingspan, effortless bounce, and professional experience, Traore has defensive potential that the Los Angeles Lakers are wise to be intrigued by.

It's been a quiet summer on the offensive side of the ball, but Traore is already showing some of the defensive proficiency that has Los Angeles intrigued.

Traore's six points and three rebounds in the California Classic set the stage for larger contributions down the line. He plays with infectious energy, thus enabling him to put up 11 points, seven rebounds, and four offensive boards the next time out.

It was rough in the finale of the California Classic, but Traore continues to provide energy and intensity to a Lakers team that has otherwise lacked it at times.

Traore tallied eight points on perfect 4-of-4 shooting to open things up in Las Vegas, and put up nine points, five rebounds, a block, and a steal against the Boston Celtics. More importantly, his defensive intensity has been one of the best aspects of the entire Summer League experience.

Traore needs to refine his offensive game and play with more consistency, but at 21 years of age, there's clearly upside to explore.
