8. Moritz Wagner, Germany
The Los Angeles Lakers selected Moritz Wagner at No. 25 overall in the 2018 NBA Draft. The former Michigan Wolverines star represented a promising future at center after earning Most Outstanding Player honors at the 2018 Big Ten Tournament.
Wagner only played one season with the Lakers, but he'll be yet another player at the 2024 Summer Olympics with ties to the organization.
Wagner will join his brother, Franz Wagner, as two of the top stars on a contending-level Germany side. They'll be paired with fellow NBA players Dennis Schröder and Daniel Theis, as well as another former Laker in Isaac Bonga.
Germany certainly looked the part of a Gold Medal level team when they pushed Team USA to the limit in an eventual 92-88 exhibition win for the Americans.
During that clash with Team USA, Wagner made an instant impact with 12 points, seven rebounds, and three offensive boards in just 14 minutes. He projects to play a significant role for the Germans, which will lean on his size, energy, and rebounding prowess.
Wagner may not play for the Lakers anymore, but it's nonetheless rewarding to see a player who was drafted by the organization thriving on the Olympic stage.
