Con: Injury History
The single biggest issue with a potential trade for Jerami Grant, 30, is the injury history that comes with him. The Los Angeles Lakers already have two players in their 30s who have struggled to remain healthy in recent seasons, and adding a third would be tough to justify.
Grant's an impressive player when he's on the court, but being unable to count on that transpiring makes it difficult to justify a trade for him.
Grant has missed at least 18 games in each of the past four seasons. That includes the 35 games that he missed during the 2021-22 campaign, the 19 that he sat for in 2022-23, and the 28 that he was absent from this past season.
The fact that Grant is now 30 years of age doesn't exactly inspire hope that the injury woes he's encountered will be put behind him moving forward.
It's certainly possible that Grant will be able to get back to 100 percent in 2024-25. Anthony Davis, for instance, missed 26 games in 2022-23 and then appeared in 76 games for the Lakers during the 2023-24 regular season, when he was 30 himself.
That doesn't set a precedent for all other players, however, and Los Angeles would be wise to keep that in mind as it weighs its options on the trade front.
