Where are they now? Looking back at the 2020 Lakers championship team
By Jimmy James
15. Markieff Morris
Markieff Morris was yet another player who bounced around several teams following his time with the Los Angeles Lakers. Morris spent time with the Miami Heat, Brooklyn Nets, and most recently the Dallas Mavericks, making him the only player from that 2020 championship team still active in this year’s playoffs. He and the Mavericks will take on the Celtics, with Game 1 set for an 8:30 ET tip in Boston.
16. Kostas Antetokounmpo
While not having found much success compared to his two-time MVP brother Giannis, Kostas Antetokounmpo, like Giannis and Thanasis, does have a ring to show for his short stint in the league. However, the last tie to the NBA Antetokounmpo had was on the Chicago Bulls’ G-League team, the Windy City Bulls.
Now, he competes in Greece for Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens, where he just won a EuroLeague Championship earlier this month.
17. Troy Daniels
Troy Daniels, like Antetokounmpo, has found little success on NBA rosters since the 2020 championship. He joined the Nuggets in 2020, but most recently played with Olimpia Milano in Italy's Lega Basket Serie A from 2021 to 2022.
18. Dion Waiters
Dion Waiters has not been a member of an NBA roster since the Lakers. During that championship run, Waiters played in five playoff games and averaged 2.0 points per game. Since then, he has been tied to a possible NBA comeback, which still has yet to gain traction.
19. Devontae Cacok
Devontae Cacok is another former Laker who’s found success outside of the NBA. He bounced around the NBA and G-League, spending time with the South Bay Lakers, Austin Spurs, and Motor City Cruise, as well as some NBA-affiliated teams. He most recently played for Virtus Bologna in Lega Basket Serie A.
