Why Lakers fans shouldn't be scared of sudden 'LeBron to Warriors' rumors

Here we go again.

The Los Angeles Lakers lost half of their star duo over the weekend, but you can't say no to Luka Doncic, especially when the Mavericks are practically trying to give him away. You say yes to a 25-year-old superstar who puts you in an excellent position for life after LeBron James and figure out the rest later.

Speaking of LeBron, he reportedly plans to stay with LA past the Feb. 6 trade deadline. He's one of two players in the league with a no-trade clause, so he'll have to approve a deal before it can happen. Even though signs indicate he'll remain a Laker, that hasn't stopped teams from inquiring about the 40-year-old star's services.

NBA insider Jake Fischer reported that LeBron "has shown no indication" that he'll waive his no-trade clause (subscription required). However, Fischer said that teams wonder if that'll change before Thursday.

"There are certainly teams — Golden State chief among them, sources said — that have inquired whether that stance could change between now and Thursday's trade deadline."

Fischer even said that the Warriors are trying to see if there's a way they could acquire LeBron and Kevin Durant before the deadline. The Luka-AD trade has people exploring scenarios that would've previously seemed impossible. Golden State trading for LeBron and KD might seem like a pipe dream, and well, that's because it is. It's not impossible, but very unlikely.

Warriors' dream trade scenario involving LeBron would take a lot

You're not alone if you're trying to figure out how Golden State could trade for LeBron and Durant. To say that it would take a lot of roster maneuvering would be a massive understatement. A trade would require several teams and send numerous players to new cities.

Here's an idea of what a trade could look like. A deal materializing over the next 72 hours would be a miracle. There are too many moving parts and too many people that'd need to sign off on it.

Saturday's trade proved that you can't rule anything out, no matter how bizarre it might seem. It is the wildest NBA trade in history, so it says a lot that the Warriors acquiring LeBron and KD would overshadow it.

What is more likely (but that's not saying much) is Golden State trading for LeBron on his own. On Monday, ESPN's Shams Charania reported that the Warriors have called several teams about their All-Stars, including LeBron. Everyone knows they tried to get him before last year's deadline. Golden State is desperate to pair a star with Steph Curry.

The good news for Lakers fans is that there has been no indication that LeBron wants to leave or that LA wants to trade him. Of course, that sentiment could change over the next few days, but try not to stress yourself too much by worrying about it. You might have trust issues after losing AD, but again, that's more so on Dallas for being open to trading a generational talent.

Let's see what the next few days have in store for the Lakers.
